Northern Utah area guide
Davis County
The Wasatch Front strip between the Great Salt Lake and the mountains.
The area, in plain English
Davis County is the narrow band of Wasatch Front communities running between the Great Salt Lake and the mountains, from Bountiful and Farmington in the south up through Kaysville, Layton, and Clearfield. It is Utah's third most populous county packed into its smallest land area, and its largest city, Layton, grew up alongside Hill Air Force Base. If you want short commutes along the FrontRunner rail line, highly rated schools, and mountain views without big-city traffic, this is where much of Northern Utah's buying and selling happens.

Day-to-day life
What it's really like to live here.
Life in Davis County is built around short commutes. I-15 and the FrontRunner rail line run the length of the county, so workers can reach Ogden to the north or Salt Lake City to the south without living in either. Families cluster in Kaysville and Farmington for schools, first-time buyers look hard at Clearfield, Syracuse, and West Point, and Hill Air Force Base employees anchor Layton and Clearfield. Weekend life means Lagoon in Farmington, Antelope Island sunsets, and the hills above Fruit Heights.
